SEPTEMBER 2006

In September the number of fairs start to decrease as the season comes to a close and many showmen finishing their 'run' at the end of the month. At the start of the month, Jim Paterson presented his annual fair at the Tryst Showground in Stenhousemuir. The line up remained the same as last year but with the exception of Gavin Stirlings Waltzers which took the place of John Whites machine. Speaking to a couple of showmen, they said business was not great to start of with but they did have a few busy nights towards the end of their stay.

The middle of the month saw M&D's travelling theme park return to Kings Park in Stirling for their annual 4 day fair. Making its debut at the fair were Michael Stirlings Miami taking the place of Spencer Hiscoes, and of course the much talked about "Bomber Mark 2" Booster which was drawing in the crowds. Missing this year however was M&D's Reverse Bungee which was open at their static theme park in Strathclyde. Open around the same time in Mayfield, John Evans brought together 6 machines for a nice little fair similar to the one presented here at the start of the year. John Batemans Rock'O'Plane and Sheldon Johnstones Superbob were new attractions from the Spring fair but appeared last year at the fair. John Wheatley bringing along his Miami replacing Spencer Hiscoes version.

After their 1 day fair in support of Leuchars Airshow, Hornes moved on to Dundee for their annual backend visits to Caird Park and Riverside Park. All the Hornes rides were present as was the usual array of Side and Juvenile attractions. The large rides operating on a wristband and token system again. Other fairs in September included Dalkeith, Coatbridge, Largs, Greenock, Falkirk, Alexandria and Prestwick.

Just one ride change to report, John Wheatleys "Telstar" Big Wheel has now been sold to English Showman Bimbo Bishton.
