OCTOBER 2006

Fairs are few and far between in October with many showmen already in for the winter. The Morrison family usually ends their travelling season with a back end visit to Rosyth but this year they pulled out and went straight back to their yard. At the start of the month, Hornes moved from Caird Park to Riverside Park continuing their back end run in Dundee. The line up was the same as Caird Park, all 6 of Hornes rides in attendance. During the October school holidays, the Hiscoe family returned to the Boardwalk at Braehead Shopping Centre for a 2 week fair, Dodgems, Miami, Skydiver and Twist were the rides on offer as well as the usual array of Juveniles.

One other fair that happened towards the end of October was at Perths South Inch car park where Whites presented a small fair with a change in the line up from last year. New this year was Warren Taylors "Crazy Frog" Jumper, a type of machine never seen before at the fair. Sheldon Johnstones Superbob also made a surprise visit replacing Rodney Johnstones Skydiver which has appeared here the last few years. Also new to the back end fair but attend the spring fair was Anthony Strands "Rage Cage" Round Up which has been well travelled over its first season in Strands ownership. John Wheatleys Miami, Justin Codonas Waltzers and Joe Richard Whites Twist all made return visits. One ride that was missing was Joe Sedgwicks Dodgems which has also attended the last few years.

M&D's took delivery of their latest ride in October - a Fabbri Jumper with spinning cars. Called 'Spiderman', the ride looks similar to a standard Jump'N'Smile but it has the addition of spinning cars. The ride made its debut at Hull fair and then, along with the rest of the M&D stable, made the journey over to Belfast for the annual Planet Fun event organised by M&D's.
