NOVEMBER 2007

November is traditionally a month of 1 day fairs that support bonfire, fireworks and Christmas lights events. Bonfire fairs are usually the first 2 weeks of the month with the switching on of Christmas Lights towards the end of the month going into December.

Jensen Codona started his bonfire run at Glenrothes on Saturday 3rd with 4 large machines. The following day, Jensens Twist went to Airdrie for their display, then on Monday met up with the Miami again for the Burntisland Fireworks which was a smaller fair than last year. Also on the 4th, Tommy MacIntyre presented the fair at Cumbernauld for their firework display. This is one of the larger sized fairs with 9 large rides on the ground. One of the rides to stand out was James Herchers "Heartbreaker" Miami which is not usually seen this far down the country. On Bonfire night itself, several fairs were happening around the country. Hornes took their Twist, Miami and Jumper to Drumchapel, while the Waltzer & Dodgems were at Inverness. Also good sized fairs were at Kilmarnock, Strathclyde Country Park and Glasgow Green where Irvin Stringfellows 3 machines were joined by Reagan Evans Dodgems, Sheldon Evans Skydiver, Justin Codonas Waltzers and John Whites Tagada.

Towards the end of the month the 'Winter Fairs' usually open. This year, Winter Wonderland in Edinburgh opened on the 22nd with the usual Giant Wheel, Gallopers & Waveswinger next to the Scot Monument. Glasgows Winterwonderland in George Square opened on the 24th with Gallopers, Waveswinger, a vintage Cakewalk attraction and traditional Lighthouse Slip. Both these events also have ice rinks present and are open until 6th January 2008. The other 'Winter Fair' is at Braehead with the usual Hiscoes attractions and like last year, Stewart Miller has joined them with his "Toboggan" Coaster. The fair is open at Weekends until the xmas holidays then will be open throughout the week.
