MAY 2006

A couple of different fairs happened in the month of May, most noticable were the 2 "Funderpark" fairs presented at Linwood and Glasgow Green by Funtime Carnivals. English Showman Darren Matthews travelled up from England to present all 4 of his machines at the 2 events, these being the Megaspin, "Daytona" Dodgems, "Typhoon" Orbiter and his latest machine, the Experience (same as Sedgwicks Superspin). The fairs seemed to be going really well when the weather stayed good, but a couple of rainy days kept the thrillseekers indoors.

After visiting Alloa, John Evans has a run of 3 fairs starting at Tullibody then on to Alva and finishing in Tillycoultry. The rides usually remain the same throughout the 3 fairs with the odd change at each fair. New to the fairs this year was Anthony Strands "Rage Cage" round up taking the place of Batemans machine which were at the fairs last year. The Ex George Irvins Dodgems, now in ownership of Warren Evans, were at Alva instead of Stanley Sharps but missing from Alva was George Irvins "Transylvania" Ghost Train which has now been sold on and travelling in the Borders.

M&D Taylor opened a fair at the Football Stadium in Falkirk again, although it was a shorter stay than last year opening just over 1 weekend. New attractions at the fair included their "Mad Mouse" Spinning Coaster, David Taylors "Storm" Freak Out and Gamble & Millers Twist replacing their Giant Wheel and Booster which attended last year. Owen Taylors Dodgems were also missing but being replaced by Bennett Hiscoes set. When I visited the fair only a hand full of people were at the fair due to the non-stop rain.
