FEBRUARY 2007

The 2007 travelling season kicked off as usual with Funtime Carnivals visiting the Gyle Shopping Centre with their "Funderpark" style fair. Open from 8th - 25th February, the fair ran on a wristband system which seemed to prove very popular with showmen and the public. The rides at the fair had all previously been at the Gyle, with the usual 'Funtime' machines being joined by Joe Whites Rollerghoster, Justin Codonas Waltzers returning for a second year and David Thomsons Superbob and 'Energy Storm' Streetfighter which was again at the Gyle after missing the event last year. The usual array of Juvenile Attractions were on offer including Carrick Broughtons Crooked Cottage which was also returning after last years event. Irvin Stringfellow also presented his newly purchased Mirror Maze which he bought from the Johnstone family. Its mainly white with large red lettering on the top and Im sure it will add something different to the 'Funtime' line up.

Towards the end of the month, Hornes Pleasure Fairs started their travelling season with a visit to Livinston and the Almondvale Stadium Car Park, again this fair was running the "Unlimited Wristband" for the fair which consisted of all 6 of Hornes large machines and "Monte Carlo" Car Track. Juveniles this year were from the Reader family, bringing their Train Ride and Toyset and finially JA Cowley brought his "Pleasure Dome" Arcade. The fair was slightly smaller then my last visit with George Allan Hickeys and Nathaniel Codonas Juveniles missing.

Ride changes - to add to Stringfellows new Mirror Maze, Spencer Hiscoe has purchased a SBF Family Drop Tower which he bought from down south and it made its debut at the Winter Fair at Breahead Shopping Centre. Its similar to Irvin Stringfellows but is yellow coloured and is also called "Drop Zone".
