There is really only one fair that sums up the month of April - Kirkcaldy Links Market! This years fair promised to be bigger and better and it certainly was with new rides such as Tango, Speedflip and Powersurge all making the trip up from England. Another 'surprise' attraction from England was the Capriolo of Walter Murphy which arrived at the last minute and was still setting up on the Wednesday. Another newcomer was William Hancock who brought along his Orbiter, a type of ride not seen at links for a number of years. All these machines together with Frisbee, Seastorm, 2 Wild Mouse Rollercoasters and Cox's Move It, made sure this was the best line up in a long time. Nathan Harts Booster replaced M&D's machine which has now been sold and their new model was not ready in time. Also missing was Spencer Halls "Atmosfear" Ghost Train, which he subsituted with his Pony Ride and Mellors Big Ben which has appeared at links for the last few years - James Cox's Move It taking its place, which won the 'Best Ride' award.
Elsewhere, Michael Stirling presented a small fair in the car park of ASDA Govan with Harry Millers "Twister" Coaster as the star attraction. The coaster then made the trip to Victoria Park, Falkirk for Gavin Stirlings fair in which the coaster was 1 of 8 machines present. Benny & Jensen Codona visited a few places in April with their Miami, Skydiver and Waltzers. Starting at Inverkeithing, then moving on to Crieff, where business was said to be steady, and then Miami & Skydiver setting up with Morrisons at Rosyth and Waltzers open at Alloa.
Hornes opened at Stenhousemuir, as usual before Kirkcaldy, with 5 of their machines. The Miami was spending the Easter Holidays at Codonas Park in Aberdeen. Making its debut at Stenhousemuir was Billy Burns newly built Funhouse named "Crazy Circus". All 6 of Hornes machines opened at Kirkcaldy then all moved on to Riverside at Dundee to join Sheldon Johnstones Superbob for their usual post Kirkcaldy visit. Trade seemed to be very good on the sunny Saturday I visited. Also on at the same time about 10 miles away, Tommy Evans was open in Carnoustie with 1 extra machine compared to last year. Sheldon Evans "La Bamba" Miami was an addition to the line up making rides present 4. The Miami has been repainted by DC Slater and is now looking superb along with the unit that pulls the load. I visited the fair just as it opened so it was pretty quiet but it was a very sunny & warm day so hopefully the fair got busier later on.
There has been another few ride changes this month, Ross Swallow has been travelling is new Simulator which was open at ASDA Govan then Falkirk and as mentioned before Billy Burns' new Funhouse. Jimmy Grahams Gallopers have been sold down south to Jason Gray, also moving on to England is Reuben Slaters Zipper ride sold to Steve Hedley.
